I don’t have one at the moment! My desk broke, I’m bribing my brother to fix it for me…

Other than high school English class, how did you learn to write?

I don’t remember an exact time or way I learnt how. I think I’m still trying to figure it out. I’ve been writing ever since I learnt how to read. My Nan is an avid bookworm and used to read to me nearly every day as well as bedtime. That was where I found my love for writing. When I was too embarrassed to tell anyone I was writing, I turned to Wattpad, which gave me the courage to actually tell people, ‘I’m a writer.’

[Editor’s note to American readers: “learnt” is more common than “learned” in Australia!]

What is one of the best sentences or paragraphs you’ve ever written?

“He dug his thumbs into the skin of apple and pulled it apart as though it were made of paper. All at once hundreds of butterflies sprung forth, some black, others the colour of tears, and a lucky few gilded. After the lucky ones reached the roof, the metallic hue flaked, falling to the floor like heavenly snow, revealing a white so pure I had to shield my eyes. When I blinked, they were gone, the rich flecks around us the only hint they ever existed.”
The Underneath

What is your favorite sentence or paragraph from another author’s novel?

“Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant, filled with odd waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don’t always like.”
-Lemony Snicket, The Slippery Slope

My staffordshire bull terrier Kostya-Sue pretending to be adorable. She’s really not. It’s an old photo. Appearances can be deceiving…

And Crackers–my brother’s staffordshire bull terrier–stealing cushions to sulk in front of the door.

What was your best experience on Wattpad?

I can’t just pick one. There are way too many to choose from! I’ve met the most amazing people on Wattpad, some of which are my closest friends, others mentors and writing buddies. I’ve learnt so much and improved so greatly that I didn’t even recognize some of my old work (or rather I didn’t want to…) I think nearly every one of my best experiences have been thanks to Wattpad.

What other talents do you have?

I sketch a little bit.

What is the most disappointing book you have ever read?

Sadly, I can think of many. Though I think the greatest was probably Dracula by Bram Stoker. I read it at about 13, when my parents deemed me old enough to read horror and couldn’t have been more frustrated by the outcome. It was an okay book, but not the great masterpiece a lot of people make it out to be. A lot of the tradition and folklore in there was wrong too, and that always annoys me.

Do you keep a writing notebook? Show us a page!

I have about a hundred, they’re a mess. Trust me; no one should have to bear witness to such horrors.

Recommend another Wattpadder.

Just ONE? Oh dear… okay. I can do this… @hfkeleher is probably one of the most talented sixteen year olds I’ve met. Or read. Her work is technically and emotionally flawless. She’s going to go a very long way in writing.

Other than your Wattpad profile, do you have another site you’d like us to visit?

Come look at my silly sketches!
